Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a residential care home of three floors on Victoria Park Road, Hackney.
Half of a room on the second floor was damaged by fire. Twenty one people were evacuated from premises by staff before the arrival of the Brigade.
The Brigade was called at 2158 and the fire was under control at 2240. Fire crews from Homerton, Bethnal Green and Leyton fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
