Fire at butcher's shop - Farringdon

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a butcher’s shop in Grand Avenue, Farringdon.

A small part of the butcher’s shop was damaged by fire. Approximately 20 people were evacuated from the market. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 2041 and the fire was under control at 2206. Fire crews from Dowgate, Whitechapel and Soho fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire was accidental and due to a failure within a chiller unit.
