Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a shop with flats above on Meads Lane in Ilford.
A small part of the ground floor shop was damaged by the fire. One man, one woman and one child left the first floor flat before the Brigade arrived. The man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews as a precaution and the woman and child were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation. A further two adults left the shop before the Brigade arrived.
The Brigade was called at 1550 and the fire was under control by 1656. Fire crews from Ilford and Dagenham fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the fire was accidental and caused by a fault in an electrical consumer unit.
