Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Roydene Road, Plumstead.
A small part of the ground floor was damaged by fire. Sadly, two dogs were found dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0950 and the fire was under control at 1100. Fire crews from Plumstead, Erith, and East Greenwich fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
