Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a house on Lakeside Avenue in Thamesmead in the early hours of this morning.
A garage in the semi-detached two-storey house was completely destroyed by the fire, as well as a small part of the roof. A woman and child evacuated the property before the Brigade arrived. No injuries are reported.
The Brigade was called at 01.37 and the incident was over by 03.35. Fire crews from Plumstead, Erith and East Greenwich fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be due to an electrical fault in a consumer unit located in the garage.
