Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Kirkwood Road in Peckham.
Part of a flat on the ground floor was damaged by fire. Two men were assisted from a neighbouring flat by the Brigade and were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews. One woman left a first floor flat before the arrival of the Brigade.
The Brigade was called at 0228 and the fire was under control at 0318. Fire crews from New Cross, Old Kent Road, Greenwich and Deptford fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service.
