Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Appleford Road in Ladbroke Grove.
The first floor of a maisonette on the ground and first floors of the building was destroyed by fire. Sadly one person was found dead at the scene by crews wearing breathing apparatus.
The Brigade was called at 1433 and the fire was under control at 1540. Fire crews from North Kensington and Paddington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
