Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a flat above a shop in Waterloo Road, Waterloo.
Most of a flat on the third floor was damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 16 calls to the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 2137 and the fire was under control at 2251. Fire crews from Lambeth, Dowgate and Dockhead fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
