Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers dealt with a pallet recycling yard blaze on Whalebone Lane North in Chadwell Heath this afternoon.
A stack of pallets and a shipping container of vehicle parts was damaged by fire. A van and a fork lift truck was also affected by the blaze.
Seven gas cylinders were involved in the fire. They were cooled and removed as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
The Brigade was called at 1414 and the fire was under control by 1632. Fire crews from Hainualt, Dagenham, Wennington and Ilford fire stations attended the scene. The fire is believed to be caused by intentional burning getting out of control.
