Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a block of flats in Bradstock Road, Hackney.
Half a maisonette on the fifth and sixth floors was damaged by fire. One person left the affected flat and a further 40 people left the building before the arrival of the Brigade,
The Brigade was called at 1403 and the fire was under control at 1444. Fire crews from Homerton, Leyton, Walthamstow, and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
