Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a restaurant with flats above in London Road in North Cheam last night.
The restaurant's ventilation system was destroyed by fire. Parts of a flat roof at the rear of the restaurant and a first-floor flat were damaged in the blaze. Four people left the premises before the arrival of the Brigade.
The Brigade was called at 2145 and the fire was under control at 0007. Fire crews from Sutton and Mitcham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
