Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire on Westport Street, Limehouse in the early hours of this morning.
The fire is believed to be caused by a faulty extractor fan in the bathroom. Firefighters quickly tackled the blaze and stopped it from spreading to the roof or neighbouring properties.
Smoke alarms alerted the family to the fire. Four men, three women and four children left the property before the Brigade arrived.
The Brigade was called at 0535 and the fire was under control by 0649. Firefighters from Shadwell, Whitechapel, Poplar and Bethnal Green fire stations attended the scene.
