Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at a semi-detached house in The Mall, Surbiton.
A small part of the ground floor and most of the first floor were damaged and the roof, which was under construction, was destroyed by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1620 and the fire was under control at 1726. Fire crews from Surbiton, Kingston and Twickenham fire stations attended the scene as well as colleagues from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
