Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire at semi-detached bungalow in The Ridge, Twickenham late Friday night.
Almost half of the bungalow was damaged by fire. One man evacuated the bungalow before the Brigade arrived and crews rescued a woman from the property. Both were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service and sadly the woman later died in hospital.
The Brigade was called at 2314 and the fire was under control by 0055.
Fire crews from Heston, Twickenham and Wimbledon fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
