Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire in a takeaway restaurant on Brewer Street in Soho.
An occupier from the first floor offices above the restaurant who arrived at the building in the morning was alerted to the fire by an alarm sounding and the smell of smoke and called the Brigade. Around three quarters of the restaurant on the ground floor of the five floor building was damaged by fire. There were no reported injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1014 and the fire was under control by 1148. Fire crews from Soho, Lambeth, Kensington and Hornsey fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical appliance which was destroyed by the fire.
