Four fire engines around 25 firefighters were called to a flat fire in Talwin Street, Bromley-by-Bow.
Part of a first floor flat was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one woman and she was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 2248 and the fire was under control at 2320. Fire crews from Plaistow, Millwall, Whitechapel and Shadwell fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
