Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on The Hyde in Colindale.
Part of a ground floor flat was damaged by the fire. Sadly, one woman was found dead at the scene. Another woman left the building before the Brigade arrived. She was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 0941 and the fire was under control by 1009. Fire crews from Hendon Fire Station attended.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
