Six fire engines and around 40 fire engines were called to a fire at a garage on Tonstall Road in Mitcham.
Two motorbikes, two cars and the garage were destroyed by the fire. One propane cylinder was involved and was cooled to an ambient temperature as cylinders can explode if exposed to heat. A 25m cordon was put in place and around 50 people were evacuated from neighbouring properties as a precaution.
One woman was assessed at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 0752 and the fire was under control by 0924. Fire crews from Mitcham, Wimbledon, Norbury fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 44 calls to the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
