Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to a fire at a takeaway restaurant with flats above on Chingford Mount Road in Chingford.
The fire severely damaged the two-storey building.
Station Manager Rod Wainwright, who was at the scene, said:
"Fire crews worked extremely hard to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent shops. A woman evacuated from a flat above and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service as a precaution. Three male members of staff also evacuated uninjured."
The Brigade was called at 1210 and the fire was under control by 1354. Fire crews from Walthamstow, Woodford, Tottenham, Leyton and Chingford fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
