Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a house converted into a bedsit on Grasmere Avenue in Wembley.
Firefighters found one man on the ground floor. Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nine people left the property before the Brigade arrived.
The semi detached house was badly damaged by the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 0306 and the fire was under control by 0504. Fire crews from Wembley, Stanmore, Hendon and Park Royal fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the police and Brigade fire investigation officers.
