A man has sadly died in hospital following a fire in a house on Colberg Place in Stoke Newington on Friday morning (15 November).
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the scene.
Following the fire in the basement flat which was destroyed by the blaze, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from the flat. Another woman left the property before the Brigade arrived. They were both treated on scene for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews where he died on Wednesday (19 November).
The Brigade was called at 0158 and the fire was under control by 0317. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Tottenham and Kentish Town fire stations were in attendance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
