Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to a fire at a sheltered accomodation block in Waterhouse Close in Hammersmith.
A small part of a second floor flat was damaged by fire. One man was rescued by firefighters from the kitchen of the flat and was treated at the scene by fire crews for smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 1345 and the fire was under control at 1429. Fire crews from Hammersmith and Fulham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
