Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a suspected gas leak on Lupus Street in Pimlico.
Firefighters investigated reports of a smell of gas in a ground floor restaurant and basement. Crews carried out a sweep of the area but found no elevated readings.
A 50m cordon was put in place and a number of residents who were evacuated as a precaution have now been allowed to return home.
The Brigade was called at 1349 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1638. Fire crews from Lambeth, North Kensington and Soho fire stations were at the scene.
