Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a blaze at an end of terrace house in Albion Road, Hackney.
The first floor was badly damaged by fire. A man left the property before the arrival of the Brigade. There were no reports of any injuries
The Brigade was called at 1400 and the fire was under control by 1427.
Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Holloway and Homerton fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
