Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Sidney Street in Whitechapel.
A small part of a flat on the seventh floor of an eight-storey block was damaged by the fire. Two people left the flat before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 0942 and the fire was under control by 1012. Fire crews from Whitechapel, Shadwell, Bethnal Green and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
