Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Edensor Road in Chiswick.
An electrical intake room on the ground floor of the building was destroyed by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led eight people from flats on the eighth and ninth floors to safety. Two women were treated on scene after suffering from smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 1502 and the fire was under control by 1625. Fire crews from Lambeth, Chelsea, Soho and Clapham fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and involved an electrical installation.
