Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters rescued a young woman from a flat fire on Aubyn Square in Roehampton.
Station Commander Peter Clark said:
“A young woman was trapped in her flat and couldn’t escape and called 999. Control officers gave her vital fire survival guidance and kept her calm until firefighters arrived. Control officers made fire crews aware of the young woman and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly rescued her from the third floor flat.”
The young woman was suffering from smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
Part of the kitchen was damaged by fire.
The Brigade was called at 1317 and the fire was under control by 1412. Firefighters from Tooting, Richmond, Chiswick and Fulham fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
