Firefighters were called to a flat on Oseney Crescent in Kentish Town.
There appears to have been small fire in the kitchen, which was out when crews arrived. Sadly, one man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 1609 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1711. Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Kentish Town Fire Station attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
