Firefighters were called by police to attend a flat on Mary Place in Notting Hill.
There had been a small fire in the property which was out when crews arrived. Sadly, one man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 1306 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1410. Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Paddington and Chelsea fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
