Firefighters rescued a man from a flat fire on Montserrat Road in Wandsworth.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued the man via an internal staircase from the second floor flat. The man was suffering from smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews and taken to hospital.
The whole of the flat and part of the roof was damaged by fire. The Brigade took fourteen 999 calls to the visible blaze.
The Brigade was called at 1020 and the fire was under control by 1243. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters from Wandsworth, Fulham, Chelsea, Hammersmith, Clapham, Battersea, Richmond and West Norwood fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
