Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a garage on Foxlands Road in Dagenham.
A single storey garage attached to a detached house was destroyed by the fire.
Brigade Control Officers received 7 calls about the blaze. A temporary cordon of 25m was put in place while crews cooled gas cylinders at the property to make the scene safe, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade were called at 0900 and the fire was under control by 1004. Fire crews from Dagenham and Barking fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
