Firefighters have issued a safety warning after a Christmas candle is believed to have caused a flat fire on High Street in Feltham.
Part of the flat on the fourth floor was damaged by fire. A man left the affected flat before the Brigade arrived.
A further 10 residents self evacuated and firefighters assisted 15 residents more to safety. There were no reports of any injuries.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Candles are one of the most common causes of home fires and Christmas is a popular time when lots of people light candles for decoration. It’s very important to never leave candles unattended and always place them on a flame retardant surface.”
The Brigade was called at 1924 and the fire was under control by 2101. Fire crews from Feltham and Twickenham fire stations attended the incident.
