Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Albion Road in Dagenham.
Part of the rear extension on the roof on the ground floor was damaged by the blaze. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1506 and the fire was under control by 1549. Fire crews from Dagenham, Barking and Ilford fire stations attended the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
