A woman has sadly died following a house fire in Sutherland Square in Southwark.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters attended the fire in a three storey terraced house where over half of the ground floor was damaged. Initial crews were at the scene within five minutes of the call. Firefighters in breathing apparatus found the body of a woman on the ground floor.
The Brigade was called at 0837 and the fire was under control by 1009. Fire crews from Peckham, Old Kent Road, Lambeth River and Brixton attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade’s Fire Investigation Unit and the Metropolitan Police.
