Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire on Bluebell Avenue in Manor Park.

A three-roomed flat on the ground floor of the building was damaged by fire. Around 10 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one man who was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers gave vital fire survival guidance to a resident on the ground floor of the building on how to stay safe before crews arrived.

The Brigade was called at 0224 and the fire was under control by 0305. Fire crews from East Ham, Stratford and Ilford fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolian Police Service.
