Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Gelsthorpe Road in Romford.
Most of the ground floor of a terraced house was destroyed by the fire. Two women and two children left the property before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1620 and the fire was under control by 1703. Fire crews from Wennington, Hainault and Dagenham fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
