Firefighters were called to reports of a fallen tree on High Road Leyton in Leyton yesterday.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to cut away parts of the tree which had fallen on to the road. Three people were treated on scene by London Ambulance Service (LAS) crews and taken to hospital.

Station Commander Andy Maloney, who was at the scene, said: "Part of the tree had fallen into the road and landed on a man who was riding a scooter. The leaves and thinner branches also caught a couple of members of the public who were walking down the street.

"Crews did a really good job and used a reciprocating saw to cut the branches and leaves so they could get to the casualty.

"It was a good piece of team work with our blue light colleagues from the LAS and Metropolitan Police Service."

The Brigade was called at 1803 and the incident was over for firefighters by 1903. Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Leyton and Leytonstone fire stations attended the scene.
