Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a waste disposal centre on Dock Road in Silvertown.
Most of an open sided waste transfer warehouse, containing around 100 tonnes of mixed waste was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 2343 and the incident was over by 0253. Fire crews from Poplar, Plaistow, Millwall, Stratford, East Ham, Shadwell and East Greenwich fire stations were at the scene.
The Brigade's Fire Investigators believe the cause of the fire was accidental.
