Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Inville Road in Walworth.
Half a tonne of mixed residential waste inside two bin rooms was alight. A small part of both bin rooms were damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1412 and the fire was under control by 1507. Fire crews from New Cross, Lambeth, Dowgate and Brixton fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
