Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to reports of a fire on a railway track near Shakespeare Crescent in Manor Park.
An external track side wall collapsed on to the railway tracks. Part of a rear garden was damaged by fire. One woman was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 16 calls to the fire.
Borough Commander Rod Vitalis, who was at the scene said: "A wall alongside the railway line containing high voltage cables collapsed and fell onto the track.
"Crews tackled a fire on the track and a small fire in the garden of a property behind the railway line.
"An underground train was redirected to avoid the area and around 60 passengers safely left the train. Some disruption to services remains."
The Brigade was called at 1229 and the fire was under control by 1438. Fire crews from East Ham, Ilford, Stratford and Barking fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
