Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters were called to a fire at a mid-terraced house on Bertram Road in Hendon.
The alarm was raised by a member of the public who could smell burning and heard a smoke alarm sounding. Part of the kitchen on the ground floor was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one man from the building. He was treated on scene after suffering from smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 0306 and the fire was under control by 0326. Fire crews from Hendon and West Hampstead fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
