Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters were called to a fire at a sheltered accommodation block on Morley Avenue in Edmonton.
Part of a laundry room on the ground floor was damaged by fire. Ten people left the building before the Brigade arrived. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led one man to safety from the first floor of the building. One man was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 0935 and the fire was under control by 1014. Fire crews from Edmonton and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is believed to have involved a tumble dryer.
