Firefighters were called to reports of a flooding at a theatre on Wellington Street in Covent Garden.
The sub-basement area of a theatre was flooded to a depth of around 12ft.
Borough Commander Richard Tapp, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters were on scene at the theatre from Monday evening.
"Water flooded the orchestra pit to a depth of about 12ft.
"Crews worked hard to clear the water and used ejector pumps to pump the water away."
The Brigade was called at 2109 and the incident was over for firefighters by 0710 (Wednesday). Fire crews from Soho, Stratford and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
