Sadly a man has died following a flat fire on Bridgeway Street in King’s Cross

Firefighters found the man and brought him out of the building. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews where he was pronounced dead.

Station Commander, Neil Guyett said:

“Crews worked extremely hard to extinguish the fire and contained it to the flat and the roof above. Firefighters found a man laying unconscious in the hall way and brought him out of the building.”

A five-roomed flat on the fourth floor was badly damaged by the blaze. Around 20 people left the block before the Brigade arrived.

The Brigade was called at 0151 and the fire was under control by 0451. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Euston, Kentish Town, Soho, Islington and Stoke Newington stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
