Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire in a private residential garage attached to a house on Brookmead Avenue in Bromley.
A small area of the semi-detached house over two floors was damaged by the fire in the adjoining garage. The garage was destroyed by the fire.
A man left the house before the Brigade arrived. He was treated at the scene by London Ambulance crews for the effects of smoke inhalation.
The Brigade's fire investigators believe the fire was caused by a fault within a fridge freezer.
The Brigade was called at 0753 and the fire was under control by 1022. Fire crews from Bromley and Sidcup fire stations attended the scene.
