Firefighters rescued a woman from a fire at a fourth floor flat on Coverdale Road in New Southgate.

A small part of a four roomed flat on the fourth floor of a five-storey block was damaged by fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from the affected flat via an internal staircase. She was treated on scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade was called at 1858 and the fire was under control by 1936. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Southgate and Finchley fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
