Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a recycling centre on Station Approach in Greenford.
Part of a mechanical waste compactor was damaged by the fire and around 40 tonnes of waste material was destroyed. There were no injuries reported.
Station Officer Patrick Flynn, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and stopped it spreading any further.”
The Brigade was called at 2050 and the fire was under control by 2221. Fire crews from Northolt and Wembley fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
