Cooking left unattended is believed to be the cause of a small flat fire on Weedington Road in Camden.
A man and a woman left the property before the Brigade arrived. They were both suffering from smoke inhalation and treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:
"Fires are more likely to start in the kitchen than any other room in the home. Cooking should never be left unattended on the hob or grill - if you have to leave the kitchen, turn off the heat.”
The Brigade was called at 2041 and the fire was under control by 2109. Fire crews from Kentish Town and Euston fire stations were at the scene.
