Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Brockton Close in Romford.
Part of the ground and first floors of a detached house were damaged by fire and part of the roof was also damaged by the blaze. A wooden gazebo with a hot tub in the rear garden was also destroyed by fire. Seven people left the building before the Brigade arrived. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade was called at 0211 and the fire was under control by 0408. Fire crews from Harold Hill, Dagenham, Ilford and Hornchurch fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental.
