Firefighters rescued a man from a house fire on Chiltern Close in Worcester Park.
Part of the first floor of an end-of-terrace house was damaged by fire. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
Leading Firefighter Jim Caroll, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man who was on the ground floor of the property.
“The upstairs was very heavily smoke logged and crews worked swiftly to extinguish multiple seats of fire and make the scene safe.”
The Brigade was called at 0153 and the fire was under control by 0242. Fire crews from Sutton, New Malden and Mitcham fire stations attended the scene.
